CHARLES AUGUSTUS FAVERSHAM was born more than 130 years ago in England. This is the story of his life.
Roy Gerrard was also born in England, more than forty years ago. He describes his career: "From 1958 to 1970 1 combined the activities of teaching art and doing paintings of my own. I worked in oils during this period and in a modernist manner, never exhibiting. In 1970 1 decided I was finished with painting and I destroyed all existing work. In 1972 I was immobilized for several weeks after a climbing accident, and I started tinkering around with small watercolors. My painting became obsessive and gradually took up all my spare time. In about three years I finally arrived at my true style of painting: small, highly detailed watercolors, remorselessly whimsical, and often Victorian/Edwardian in subject."
