Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Words by Selina Hastings
Illustrations by Juan Wijngaard
SIR GAWAIN is one of the legendary knights of King Arthur's Round Table. In this story his courage and chivalry is challenged by the Green Knight, a giant adversary with superhuman powers.
On his quest to find the Green Knight, Gawain rides through snow-covered mountain passes and dark forests, fighting dragons, trolls, and wild boar. Although he is often sorely tempted to break his knightly code of honour, Sir Gawain proves that he is a worthy opponent.
Retold in modem language and illustrated with exquisite colour plates, this Arthurian legend is a true tale of adventure.
SELINA HASTINGS received her master's degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford University. Since 1968 she has worked for the London Daily Telegraph, regularly contributing book reviews and feature articles. Ms. Hastings lives in London.
