No Peace For the Wicked
by Elizabeth Ferrars

Antonia Winfield, a small, gray-haired woman in a brightly flowered silk suit, wondered if she was going mad.

She thought she was being followed by a man in shabby brown. It was too utterly absurd. Who would follow her? "But I'll know for sure in a moment," she decided. "If he follows me into Farr's, or if he's waiting for me when I come out, I'll know I'm not imagining things."

Farr's was Fair Tours, Limited, and Mrs. Winfield was making the arrangements for her holiday abroad. The clerk at Farr's greeted her, and then she glanced casually over her shoulder. The man in the brown suit was standing just behind her.

Yet what did it matter, she asked herself, if a madman had taken it into his head to follow her? There was nothing he could do to her. Not here at any rate. Not if she managed to shake him off before she started for home. The home in which, as it happened, she would be quite alone for the next two nights, since her husband Roger had left that morning for Scotland.

Roger didn't like foreign climes, so on vacations he went fishing in Scotland and she went abroad. This year she was going to Greece: a restful, comfortable trip to a lovely little Greek island that had been highly recommended.
But that's not exactly the way things turned out!

Mrs. Winfield's niece turned out to be going on the trip with her, and the two ladies had a follower—a man in a brown suit.

And for that reason, or perhaps not just for that reason, the trip was a very odd one indeed—and a most dangerous one as well.
