Mrs. Goose insisted on going for pussy willows in a boggy place no matter how much Black Cat warned her. She was determined to be a photographer, though she knew nothing about it she bought earrings even though she had no ears to put them on. In other words she is our same old friend, foolish Mrs. Goose.

Children who know Mrs. Goose will be delighted to have this new volume of stories about her. Newcomers will laugh over her adventures and exclaim with the inhabitants of Animaltown, "Goodness, Mrs. Goose!"

Here are eleven funny stories, with numerous illustrations, that many children can read to themselves and that the whole family will love to read aloud.

Miriam Clark Potter

author-artist, has been entertaining children ever since she sold her first manuscript to Youth's Companion at fourteen, and soon thereafter became a contributor to St. Nicholas and other magazines. During her childhood in Minnesota, she spent her summers on a farm—to the everlasting benefit of her writing career —for there she met Mrs. Goose.

After graduation from the University of Minnesota, Miriam Clark married Zenas Potter, a friend from childhood, and they lived in various cities in the Middle West and East where her husband's newspaper career led them. In odd moments between bringing up three daughters, Mrs. Potter wrote and drew pictures. These, published in American Childhood, became favorites with children in thousands of schools and homes and have been collected in the popular Mrs. Goose books.

Mr. Potter became interested in painting and, in recent years, collaborated in the illustrations for his wife's books.
