Jean Chariot is known, as one of the outstanding-fresco painters of Arnerica. His murals in the Preparatoria School, and in the Ministry of Education in Mexico City are an early and important contribution to the 'Mexican Renaissance'. He is co-author of 'The Temple of the Warriors" on Mayan archaeology, and author of "Art from the Mayans to Disney". He has just been awarded a Guggenheim fellowship to complete the writing of a History of Mexican Mural Painting." While Chariot was artist-in-residence at the University of Georgia in 1941-44 he painted three murals and wrote this book about them.
