BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S
by Truman Capote

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S is Truman Capote's first major work of fiction in seven years. It marks his return to the field in which he made his reputation as one of the outstanding writers of this generation. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S not only equals in brilliance such Capote novels as Other Voices, Other Rooms; it is also highly provocative in theme and characterization—so much so that months before its publication it was a major conversation piece in publishing circles.

In addition to BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, this volume includes three short stories by Mr. Capote which have never appeared in book form: A Diamond Guitar, House of Flowers and A Christmas Memory. Like BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, they are a superb expression of Mr. Capote's genius for evoking mood, scene and inner worlds.

About the Author

Truman Capote was born in New Orleans. His first novel, OTHER VOICES, OTHER ROOMS, published in 1948 and recently reprinted as a Modern Library Paperback, achieved for him an international literary reputation. It has since been enhanced by a collection of short stories, A TREE OF NIGHT, and a second novel, THE GRASS HARP. Mr. Capote's interest in the theatre resulted in an adaptation of THE GRASS HARP which was produced on Broadway in 1952, and a musical play, HOUSE OF FLOWERS, a successful 1954 production.

Mr. Capote, who lists his preferred pas-times as "conversation, reading, travel, writing—in that order," brought some of his impressions of far-away places to readers in LOCAL COLOR. And after he visited the Soviet Union, his uncanny reportorial talents came to full flower in THE MUSES ARE HEARD, published by Random House in 1956 and featured by both The New Yorker magazine and Reader's Digest Condensed Books.
