The NEW YORK ART YEARBOOK 1975-1976 is the first volume in a series of annual reference books relating to art exhibitions held in New York City. Information is included on 1239 artists who have had one-person shows during the 1975—1976 season, which includes the period from September 1975 through June 1976.
The entries in the first section are arranged in alphabetical order by artist. Each entry includes biographical data, descriptive information regarding his or her work, the name of the gallery or museum, and the dates of the exhibition.
Most of the entries are accompanied by a photograph of a representative example of the artist's work. These photographs are shown in the second section and include the work of 1053 of the artists listed in the first section. They are arranged in alphabetical order consistent with aesthetic layout considerations.
This book and future annual volumes in the series will give valuable documentation on the contemporary art scene.
